Public Axis 3000 editor / 2nd unit director of photography / vfx concept artist
Excerpted scenes from the finished film.
My favorite shot from the 2nd unit DP work I did for the film. I wanted the shot to convey isolation, by using an 85mm to get this shot, as opposed to a wide lens, it helps the world feel small and like it is all right on top of him, contributing to that feeling of isolation.
Project Details
I started work on this project in December 2017, the first full cut of the film took 22 days. My duties included syncing dailies, applying first-look luts, logging footage, pulling selects, and working hand-in-hand with the director for the entirety of the first cut of the film. I did have an assistant editor for a short time during that first cut period to help sync footage.
As the editor, when the first cut was finished, jit was apparent some story points needed revised. I suggested that some scenes were cut down to streamline the story, removing redundant or unimportant dialogue. Other scenes were re-ordered and intercut to better serve the story and help beats land. I'm proud of my final cut.
After the final cut was approved, I had to step away from the project. I was the editor on what the production team calls the "Storyline," which is the main through-line story. The entire film intercuts sketches into the "Storyline" which are loosley tied in to the main story.
